3A Stanley Low (13)

VS Secondary 3A Service Learning : Rice Collecting For The Needy

This much-needed experience has given me various opportunities to reflect on my current thought towards giving back to society. One of them being which giving back to the community is much more difficult and tedious work that it seems as doing such an activity on a small scale has already involved copious amounts of energy and time for planning. However, with these great burdens come great accomplishments and rewards that are just as refreshing and enriching.

The greatest moment of this period of Service Learning would be chancing on a very generous lady who spent 50 dollars on buying rice who need it more. (Her contributions as well as others have benefited about 300 over families!) As well, she even used the change to buy some drinks for our tired classmates. Her actions do indeed melt my heart and at the same time left a deep impression on it. This has taught me that generosity knows no bounds and one should always remember to actively contribute back to society!

I would see myself giving back to society should I have the means and time to. If possible, I would very much love to introduce the idea of Service Learning into organizations and institutions which I would be schooling/working in my future life.
